B1 Residential Building Inspector Certification. The International Code Council (ICC) has developed and oversees testing programs and certifications for building code enforcement and construction professionals throughout the United States. Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to become a Certified Residential Building Inspector. Construction experience is not required, but many contractors may be interested in getting an inspector’s certificate.

The B1: Residential Building Inspector Certification Exam is an open-book exam that consists of 60 multiple-choice questions and a minimum passing score of 75 points.
